Welcome to Grace's Day Nursery in Kent, and thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about us.
I am Joanna Evans and in 2000 I qualified as a doctor, since August 2001 I have worked in paediatric medicine. In November 2006, I started the hardest part of my training- I became a mother. Nothing could have prepared me for the highs and lows, hopes and anxieties that motherhood had in store. Without doubt it has been the most challenging and yet most rewarding job in the world.
Like many mothers however, the joys of new motherhood were disrupted when I had to return to work and as a result had to find somebody to entrust with caring for my daughter. I looked into many different childcare options and felt that a nursery was best for us as a family and then set about the task of finding the right one. I soon discovered that although there were lots of nurseries to choose between, finding the one that was right for our family was very hard. We wanted an environment that was safe yet not restrictive, nurturing, diverse, stimulating and that encouraged personal growth and development for each child as an individual.
Therefore, when the opportunity arose to start our own day nursery and to create an environment that we were more than happy to send our children to, I jumped at the chance.
Grace's Day Nursery originally began in 2011, opening in the beautiful 17th Century Manor House set within Ruxley Manor Garden Centre in Sidcup. This was once lived in by Cyril and Grace Evans (hence the name), who were the grandparents of two of my co-directors, James and Andrew. The house was always full of fun and laughter for my husband James and his cousin Andrew and so we feel sure that Grandma Grace would be proud of everything that Grace's has become and continues to strive for. Michelle is the fourth director and joined us as our original nursery manager to set up our first Grace's setting. She became a childcare director in 2015 and oversees the quality of all our nurseries.
We hope that you will visit us and see our wonderful settings. If you would like to discuss any aspects of the nursery, then please do not hesitate to contact one of the Nursery Managers using our contact forms.
With warmest regards,
"The wonderful team at Grace's are out of this world. The love and care that they provide to the children is outstanding and is all the reassurance I need while I am at work..."
James (L) and Andrew (R) with Grandma Grace, having a well deserved break from saving the world!
